Meet Angel Hjarding, the driving force behind Bollie Travel & Adventures!

Angel's passion for travel was kindled in her youth, where she embarked on adventurous journeys with her grandparents, camping in the North Carolina mountains and exploring the scenic landscapes of New England during annual road trips.

Fuelled by an insatiable wanderlust, Angel's first international journey took her to Europe at the age of 16, where she played in historic cathedrals with her high school symphony orchestra. This experience opened her eyes to the vast diversity and rich cultures of the world, igniting within her a lifelong fascination with global exploration.

Accompanying her high school symphony orchestra, she embarked on an unforgettable musical tour that saw her performing in historic cathedrals and concert halls across the continent. This immersive experience introduced her to the rich tapestry of cultures and histories that Europe has to offer, igniting within her a lifelong passion for global exploration and discovery.

Angel's commitment to global exploration and conservation led her to spend three transformative months in Laos after she graduated from the University of South Carolina Upstate. While there she volunteered with a non-governmental organization dedicated to safeguarding endangered species. This experience not only deepened her appreciation for wildlife and conservation efforts but also solidified her determination to make a positive impact through travel.

Continuing to pursue her dreams, Angel moved to Denmark in 2007, where she embarked on a new chapter of her life, starting a family and furthering her academic pursuits. During her time in Denmark, Angel completed a Master's degree in Biology from the University of Copenhagen. Her research focused on reptile conservation in the biodiverse landscapes of Kenya and Tanzania, reflecting her deep commitment to wildlife preservation and environmental stewardship.

In 2012, Angel made the decision to bring her family back to the United States to pursue her academic aspirations further. She enrolled in a Ph.D. program in Geography at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, driven by her insatiable thirst for knowledge and her dedication to understanding the complex interactions between humans and their environments. This academic endeavor allowed Angel to delve deeper into the intricate dynamics of geographical landscapes and explore innovative solutions to pressing environmental challenges.

Through her academic journey and her unwavering dedication to conservation and exploration, Angel continued to demonstrate her commitment to making a meaningful impact on the world around her. Her diverse experiences and tireless pursuit of knowledge serve as a testament to her passion for both personal growth and global betterment.
